With kini’s 1 Plan, 2 Numbers service, you can apply for a new Hong Kong mobile number or transfer your existing one. Receive calls and texts sent to your Hong Kong number on your kini SIM in Canada, alongside your Canadian number.
The service is available with an active All-in-one and All-in-one+ plans, with no additional monthly fee.
Stay reachable for important calls from Hong Kong and receive SMS messages, including one-time passwords (OTPs) sent by banks and other organizations. OTP delivery may depend on the sender’s service.
Apply for a new Hong Kong number
- Call 1888 from your active kini line to apply for a Hong Kong number.
- Follow the SMS instructions to submit the required information.
- Wait for an SMS notifying you of the application result.
- Once the service is ready, test it by having someone call or text your new Hong Kong number.
Port in your existing Hong Kong number
Before requesting a port-in, check when your contract with your current Hong Kong provider ends to avoid any applicable early termination fees.
- Call 1888 from your active kini line and request porting in a Hong Kong number.
- Follow the instructions and provide the required information.
- Keep your existing Hong Kong SIM and service available while the transfer is being processed.
- Wait for SMS confirmation that the port-in is complete, then test incoming calls and texts.
Once port-in is completed, your Hong Kong number will no longer operate on your old provider’s SIM. You’ll receive its incoming calls and texts through your kini SIM in Canada.
Can I port out my Hong Kong number out later?
- You can transfer your Hong Kong number to another Hong Kong provider anytime while your kini plan is active without affecting your Canadian number or its benefits.
- If your kini service is suspended, reactive the service first and complete the port-out.
- After 180 days of the date your kini service stops, your Hong Kong number will be recycled, and you will permanently lose access to it.
How can I make calls to Hong Kong number?
All-in-one and All-in-one+ plans include 1,000 international calling minutes to Hong Kong and 14 other destinations from Canada at no additional charge. These outgoing calls use your kini Canadian number.
Not Getting Calls or Texts on Your kini number?
There could be a few reasons:
- No active plan: Your kini mobile Canadian SIM card needs a valid All-in-One or All-in-one+ plan for calls or SMS on your Hong Kong or China Mobile mainland number.
- Terminated SIM card: Your kini mobile SIM Card has been terminated.
- SMS spam filter: Your phone's SMS spam filter might be blocking messages.
- Pending Registration: Real-name registration may take up to 1 - 2 business days for approval
- If you've checked these and still have trouble, please contact our customer service for further assistance.
Important notes:
- This service is separate from the “Roam Hong Kong for free” service. If you’re travelling to Hong Kong, check your plan’s roaming benefits or available roaming packs for talk and text.
- Once set up, the Hong Kong number can’t be changed.
- Calls and text forwarded from Hong Kong numbers will be paused if kini’s Canadian mobile number service is suspended, cancelled or terminated.
- In line with Hong Kong OFCA requirements, a Hong Kong ID card (Hong Kong Residents) or passport (Non-HKID Holders) image is required for Hong Kong number port-in and real-name registration.
- You can have one Canadian number and one overseas number—either Hong Kong or Mainland China—under the same eligible plan. To switch to another version (i.e. Mainland China) of the "1 Plan, 2 Numbers" service, cancel your current setup and submit a new application. Contact customer service at 1888 for help.
- Whether you port in an existing number or apply for a Hong Kong number, kini mobile will not provide a separate SIM card for that number.
