Check if your device supports VoLTE

Article banner - check if your device supports VoLTE

To use voice calling with kini, your phone must support VoLTE (Voice over LTE) on our network. Follow the steps below to check your device and settings.

Before you begin

Make sure your phone:

  • Is unlocked for use with other mobile providers.
  • Has the latest software updates installed.
  • Has an active kini physical SIM or eSIM.

Supporting 4G or 5G data doesn’t automatically mean your phone supports VoLTE on TELUS network. Compatibility can vary by model, software, and the country where the phone was purchased.

Check your VoLTE settings

Menu names vary by device and software version. If you use two SIMs, select your kini line before checking its settings.

On iPhone

  1. Open Settings → Cellular or Mobile Data.
  2. Select your kini line, then open Cellular Data Options → Voice & Data, if shown.
  3. Enable VoLTE if a switch is available.

Most iPhones enable VoLTE automatically, so you may not see a separate switch.

On Android

  1. Open Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks, or Network & Internet → SIMs.
  2. Select your kini SIM.
  3. Look for VoLTE calls, 4G calling, HD Voice or Enhanced LTE, and turn it on if available.

Some Android phones enable VoLTE automatically. You can also search for “VoLTE” or “4G calling” in Settings.

Need help?

Call 1888 from a kini line or 1-877-822-1888 from another phone. Have your phone’s exact model number, IMEI (Dial *#06# on your phone’s dial pad) and country of purchase ready so we can help check compatibility.
